Cinnamon Raisin French Toast Bake

This makes a perfect breakfast when you’ve got house guests. Its one of my favourites for Christmas morning. You prepare all the ingredients the night before and then cook in the morning. This recipe was adapted from Ree Drummond’s Baked French Toast

 

Ingredients

1 load        Whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread

4               Eggs* 

3/4 cup     Liquid egg whites (or 6 egg whites)*

2 cups       Milk or milk alternative

1 tbsp        Vanilla

 

1/3 cup     Whole wheat flour

1/3 cup      Brown sugar, not packed

1 tbsp        Cinnamon

1/4 tsp       Salt

4 tbsp       Butter

 

Plain Greek yogurt, for serving

Maple syrup, for serving

Cinnamon, for serving

 

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9x13 pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Slice bread into chunks and arrange evenly in prepared pan.
  3. In a medium bowl mix eggs, egg whites, milk and vanilla and pour over bread in pan, cover with plastic wrap.
  4. In a small bowl mix together flour, sugar, cinnamon salt and butter, cover.
  5. Place both bread pan and flour mixture in refrigerator overnight.
  6. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F.
  7. Evenly distribute flour mixture over bread.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Serve with Greek yogurt, maple syrup and cinnamon

Tips: 

  • You can use 8 whole eggs instead of the combination of whole eggs and whites
